Our working hands help grow, nurture, and value the hearts, minds and well-being of our future leaders.
Here We Grow Learning Center (HWGLC) is a State of Wisconsin licensed group child care center, located in Fitchburg, WI. After recognizing a shortage of quality care within the area, HWGLC opened with only six children in 2005. Since then, we have grown to our current capacity of 117 children.
We provide full time care for children aged six weeks through Pre-K. We provide part-time care for children three years and older, but only on a full day basis (Example: children may attend two, three or four full days a week rather than five).
Children enrolled in the Pre-K program through the Verona Area School District are permitted to attend half days, depending on availability. Pre-K operates Tuesday through Friday from 7:50 am to 11:00 am.
We are extremely proud of our staff and realize they are the reason we are able to provide high quality care. All of our teachers meet or exceed the State of Wisconsin requirements for child care staff. Most of our teachers have college degrees or are pursuing college degrees. All staff members are trained in CPR, First Aid, SIDS, and Child Abuse and Neglect training. You can see each teacher’s qualifications on the Here We Grow classrooms page.
HWGLC is a play based center that provides a safe and nurturing environment, fostering growth in all developmental domains through play and exploration. We have blended Creative Curriculum with the Wisconsin Model of Early Learning Standards (WMELS). As part of our Pre-K program, we also offer the developmentally based, Handwriting Without Tears. Our goal is to offer a comprehensive learning environment to support and challenge each child’s developmental needs, inspire creativity, provoke curiosity, foster independence and encourage individuality.
HWGLC takes the safety and security of our children very seriously. We have limited entry and exit points throughout the building that are equipped with a locked-door security system. Families may only gain access to the building through the use of a key fob. Persons without a key fob may only enter the building after a staff member has verified identification.
Hey, this is funny, I’m only 4, but I’m wearing a 5K coat! ”
HWGLC serves morning snack, lunch and afternoon snack. Our meals are nutritious, safe, developmentally appropriate and properly proportioned. Children are provided with many opportunities to learn food preferences and dietary habits. Our menus meet all federal and state requirements and guidelines. If a child has special dietary needs or requires an adaptation to our menu, we will work with your family to create a plan that will meet their needs.
