Classroom Overview

Social interactions with peers, self-help skills, letter and sound recognition, rhyming, writing of names as well as other letters and numerals, numeral recognition and adding and subtracting with manipulatives are some of the many things that the children in The Bee Room are working on.

The Bee Room was designed to provide exceptional care for children aged 4 years to 5 years. Enrolled families can expect a safe, secure, nurturing, and age-appropriate learning environment. Experienced, well-qualified teachers are staffed at a 1:12 ratio. Teachers are dedicated to responding promptly to every child’s daily needs.

The Bee Room has a parent area which displays weekly lesson plans, upcoming events, classroom volunteer sign up, as well as a glance at each particular day’s activities. In addition to communication at drop off and pick up, families are encouraged to call or visit as desired.

Classroom Teachers

DeAnn Walsh

DeAnn Walsh, co-lead in the Bee classroom, has been working at Here We Grow since August of 2010. Her experience includes working with 2’s, 3’s and 4’s.

DeAnn has worked in a child care since 2004 and has worked with preschool-aged children since 2008. She is currently certified by the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) for ages birth-11. While attending college at UW-Platteville for Elementary Education/Early Childhood Education, DeAnn felt that the younger age groups were her calling.

DeAnn feels that it truly takes a village to raise a child and we all need to work together to nurture, love, and foster the growth of our young children. When we work together toward the same goals, our youth have a great chance to succeed and become life-long learners.

During her free time DeAnn enjoys watching movies, reading, and spending time with friends and family. She also loves to cook, with casseroles and homemade soups being her favorite dishes.

Katie Roosa

Katie Roosa, co-lead in the Bee Room, has been working at HWGLC since June of 2016. Katie loves seeing things through the eyes of the children and watching them develop new skills.

Katie received her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from UW-Milwaukee. She has been teaching 4K since 2010 and also has experience with younger age groups as well.

In her free time Katie enjoys cooking, gardening, watching sports and spending time with her family.
